About Bruton Beauty

A mysterious, rarely spotted creature, the Bruton Beauty lives out of sight on the Godminster farm, and brings the gift of good fortune to all those she passes. Our original cheddar and a firm favourite, the Vintage Bruton Beauty’s signature smoothness puts it firmly at the heart of the cheeseboard.

Gin and Cheese Pairing – A match made in heaven

There’s something exquisite about the way the botanical complexity of the 1823 Dry Gin pairs with the creamy maturity of our Bruton Beauty Cheddar. This union, enhanced by the juicy punch of our new Cider Apple Jelly, creates a harmonious flavour that will live long in the memory.

CHEeese and gin Gift set PACKAGING

The Vintage Bruton Beauty is enrobed in wax to protect it and give it a longer shelf life. This special food-grade wax is a by-product of refining petroleum and would otherwise go to waste!

Our gin and cheese gift sets come packaged in an attractive gift box made from recycled cardboard that is also recyclable.

Cut into your vintage cheddar truckle in Godminster style by chopping off the top and tucking in! Carefully score around the top and lift the lid to enjoy the delicious cheddar inside.

Absolutely! To make a successful gin and cheese pairing you need to consider the intensity and the flavour of both the gin and the cheese. You should aim to match the strength of the gin with the strength of the cheese, so that neither one overpowers the other. You also want to look for complementary or contrasting notes that can create harmonious combinations. For example, a light and floral gin tends to go well with mild and creamy cheeses, while a strong and spicy gin goes well with a sharp and mature cheese.

To make your cheeseboard even more delicious, why not add some crackers or biscuits to provide a textural contrast as well as a neutral base to reset your palate. Opt for plain or sea salted crackers, or to add a touch of sweetness, try our deliciously delicate Golden Honey and Oat Biscuits.

Olives are also a welcome addition to any cheese and gin pairing, bringing a salty contrast that enhances the flavours of both the cheese and the gin. Choose green or black olives, plain or stuffed with garlic or peppers.

We recommend serving the cheddar at room temperature to bring out all the lovely flavours. This should be accompanied by a measure of the gin, neat or with a mixer of your choice. The Cider Apple Jelly can be served alongside, or on top of the cheese.

Yes, all our products are suitable for vegetarians. We only use microbial rennet (vegetarian) in our cheeses rather than animal rennet.

All of our organic cheeses require refrigeration.

In order to enjoy your Godminster organic cheddar cheese at its best, allow it to come up to room temperature an hour before serving to bring out all the lovely flavours.

If there’s any left afterwards then replace the wax as best you can, wrap it in cling film (or cheese paper if available) and refrigerate.
