Vintage Organic Cheddar BOOM Gold Award

Our deliciously smooth and creamy cheese, Godminster’s Vintage Organic Cheddar cheese is a multi-award-winning cheddar, covered in our distinctive burgundy wax. Our organic cheddar cheese is available as either a round or heart-shaped truckle.
The organic cheddar cheese is made to a traditional 90-year-old recipe and matured for up to 12 months.  At that point we select the very best cheese to be turned into one of our award-winning truckles. Our organic cheddar cheese has a rich and full depth of flavour with a smooth texture. With a delicious taste on its own or as part of the perfect cheeseboard, Godminster’s organic cheddar cheese is also a versatile ingredient in many showstopping items and recipes.

 

Our waxed cheddars have best before dates of 2021 which means they’re the perfect present for Christmas!

 

We’re delighted to say our Vintage Organic Cheddar cheese was named The Nation’s Favourite Organic Product in 2019 at the BOOM Awards hosted by the Soil Association thanks to votes from the general public!

This organic cheddar cheese truckle comes packaged in an attractive gift box made from recycled cardboard.  The box is also recyclable. The wax isn’t recyclable yet but we’re working on it to make the whole pack green!

All of our organic cheddar cheeses are made in Britain using pasteurised milk and they are certified organic by the Soil Association. They contain no artificial preservatives, and they are suitable for vegetarians.

Organic Cheddar Cheese FAQs

What is Organic Cheese?

Organic cheeses, as opposed to regular cheeses, are made with organic milk – which is milk from farms that raise their animals in a certified organic way. Cows are fed with organic foods (often our own silage, grown here on the farm) free from chemicals, and freely graze in areas free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This results in a high quality milk that is used in products like our organic cheddar cheese. To be marketed as an organic product, producers must pass annual inspections and follow strict specifications. How to store me

All of our organic cheeses are preservative-free other than salt and will require storing below 5 degrees celsius. In order to enjoy your Godminster organic cheddar cheese at its best, allow it to come up to room temperature an hour before serving to bring out all the lovely flavours. The wax forms a natural protection around the cheddar and can be cut away as you go. Either score around the top and use it as a lid, scooping the cheese out, or cut through the wax like you would a cake. If there’s any left afterward then replace the wax as best you can, wrap it in cling film (or cheese paper if available) and refrigerate.
