This sumptuous 1kg truckle of our Oak-Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar is made using the same cheese as our Vintage Organic Cheddar before being delicately cold-smoked over sustainably-sourced oak chippings for the perfect smokey aroma. This delicious smoked cheddar has won many awards, perhaps most notably Gold at the International Cheese Awards in 2022, taking home the cup for the Best Smoked Cheese.


How we make our Oak-Smoked Cheddar Cheese

We make our cheddar using a traditional 90-year-old recipe and then mature it for up to 12 months until it develops a mouth-watering tangy taste and creamy texture. After that, we select the very best cheese to make into one of our award-winning truckles. We then smoke it for up to 10 hours to give the cheddar a rich depth of flavour with a smooth texture.

The Perfect Gift

Our organic Oak-Smoked cheddar is the perfect cheese gift for a wide range of occasions, from birthdays to special occasions, Christmases, or a wine and cheese evening with friends.

This truckle comes packaged in an attractive gift box made from recycled cardboard that is also recyclable. We hand wrap our cheese in reusable muslin. Then we seal it in industry-standard shrink-wrap that isn’t yet recyclable but we’re working on it.

Delivery to most mainland UK addresses is available using DPD’s fully tracked express courier service.

We make all of our cheeses using pasteurised milk and they are certified organic by the Soil Association. Moreover, they contain no artificial preservatives. Each of these products are suitable for vegetarians.

What is smoked cheddar cheese?

Smoked cheddar cheese is cheese that has been specially treated by smoke-curling. Using a 90 year old recipe, we mature ours for up to 12 months, then smoke it for 10 hours to give it the perfect flavour.

What goes well with Oak-Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar?

Smoked cheese can be added to many dishes (see our Recipes section for more inspiration), giving your meal a smoky tanginess with every bite. Whether you are a burger lover or enjoy a fine evening of wine and cheese accompanied with chutneys and delicious crackers, our smoked cheddar will be a great addition to your menu. For the ideal wine pairing, we recommend a bottle of Le Petit Cabouche – Vin de Pays de Vaucluse or a Cotes du Rhone red. 


How long does smoked cheddar cheese last?

We guarantee at least 30 days of life on our Vintage Organic Cheddar, as long as it is kept chilled. Once opened, it should be kept refrigerated in an airtight sealed container, or wrapped tightly in cheese paper, beeswax wrap or similar.

How to store me

All of our cheeses are organic which means that they don’t contain any preservatives other than salt.  They will need to be stored below 5 degrees celsius.  In order to enjoy your Godminster at its best, allow it to come up to room temperature an hour before serving to bring out all the lovely flavours.  If there’s any left, wrap it in cling film, or cheese paper if you have any, and pop it back in the fridge.

Please note, all of our Oak-Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar is vacuum packed and then hand-wrapped in a muslin cloth.
