A deliciously smooth and creamy cheese, Godminster’s Vintage Organic Cheddar is a multi-award-winning cheddar, covered in our distinctive burgundy wax.
The cheddar is made to a traditional 90-year-old recipe and matured for up to 12 months. At that point, we select the very best cheese to be made into one of our award-winning truckles. It has a rich depth of flavour with a smooth texture. Delicious on its own or as part of the perfect cheeseboard, Godminster cheddar is also a versatile ingredient in many showstopping recipes.
It was named at The Nation’s Favourite Organic Product in 2019 at the BOOM Awards hosted by the Soil Association thanks to votes from the general public, one of many awards over the years from various different bodies.
The wax isn’t recyclable yet but we’re working on it!

All of our cheeses are made using pasteurised milk and they are certified organic by the Soil Association. They contain no artificial preservatives, and they are suitable for vegetarians.
All our cheddar now has Best Before dates well into the new year.
How to store me
All of our cheeses are organic which means that they don’t contain any preservatives other than salt and will require storing below 5 degrees celsius. In order to enjoy your Godminster cheese at its best, allow it come up to room temperature an hour before serving to bring out all the lovely flavours.
The wax forms a natural protection around the cheddar and can be cut away as you go. Either score around the top and use it as a lid, scooping the cheese out, or cut through the wax like you would a cake. If there’s any left afterward then replace the wax as best you can, wrap it in cling film (or cheese paper if available) and refrigerate.
