July 2022 saw the return of the week-long Somerset Food Trail with delicious events all over the county including here at Godminster, Kimbers Farm shop and The Sheppy Inn plus many, many more.
The Somerset Food Trail is a countywide farm-to-fork showcase. Its aim is to highlight the range and richness of Somerset’s sustainable producers, while turning the spotlight on the crucial role we can all play in creating a shift to more nature-friendly farming through our everyday food choices.
This year’s festival of events was definitely back with a bang securing coverage on BBC Radio Somerset including an interview with our very own Richard Hollingbery (Godminster’s owner and founder) and a mention on the ITV regional news.
Godminster hosted two events as part of the trail – On Friday 15th July, a glorious summer afternoon was ‘A walking tour of Godminster Farm’ where our guests joined Pete and Richard for a two-hour guided tour.
We introduced them to our ethos of ‘nature repays those who treat her kindly’ which has been our guiding tenet at Godminster for over twenty years. The Godminster girls certainly played a starring role both in the field and in the dairy!
Finally, on Friday 22nd July was the ‘Godminster & The Cellarhand Lunchtime Session’, the rain stayed away long enough while we explored a selection of fantastic pairings from our experts at both Godminster and The Cellarhand. Focusing on sustainable and organic production methods, swapping stories about where our favourite products come from, and waxing lyrical about all things cheese, wine, and cider.
A great time was had by all and lots of interesting questions were asked keeping our resident experts on their toes. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
