We are now well and truly into sloe season, and Nicole, Richard and the team have been out amongst the hedgerows collecting as many sloes as possible to make our Organic Sloe Vodka. A lot of people will have tried sloe gin before, but our sloe vodka is something really unique. The ripe sloes are incredibly sweet and the flavoursome and work wonderfully over the subtle flavour of the vodka.
Perfect with a chunk of our organic cheddar and cheddar & rosemary crackers, the combination of sweet and savoury is divine. One slight problem has been the fantastically dry summer we enjoyed. Whilst it was great news for us (as we all enjoyed some much needed sunshine) it was not so good for the sloes! The lack of rain meant that they didn’t grow quite as large at first, but the late downpours in September means they are now ripe and juicy!
We’ve just finished making our first ever batch of Quince Vodka so Richard is very excited to see how it is received. We picked the quinces over nearly a year ago, to allow the infused vodka to steep for six months, as (the longer the vodka steeps, the better it tastes). With a fruity, yet sharp taste it is a very special drink and one that we think people will love. The quince tree was already at the farm when Richard took it on so to see it finally go into production is something very special.
We hope you like it!
