Leaves turning
This lovely weather has allowed Richard, Peter, Rob and the rest of the team on the farm to catch up with a lot of important bits and pieces including, ploughing like mad, cultivating, drilling and rolling arable fields with wheat and barley.
After all of this they will move on to applying a vital ingredient – compost, which we produce ourselves. From the piles and piles we had, it has now reduced in volume by two thirds, you might have seen this happen on a smaller scale in your own garden compost pile at home.
This year’s wild pheasant broods are beginning to appear, and the grey partridge that Richard is trying to re-introduce to the area have started to arrive. Richard has also been busily collecting and splitting wood for winter firewood supplies and as you can see from the photo the leaves are really starting to turn now…. I think the Indian summer is drawing to a close.
Away from the farm we’ve been busy making deliveries to all the different hamper companies that use Godminster goodies in their hampers, and even further afield, Richard took some of our products for a tasting session all the way to St Pancreas station last week. Commuters certainly seemed to appreciate a taste of rural Somerset during their busy day.
We’d like to thank everyone that gave us feedback on our new website. If you have any other thoughts please do let us know right here.
