Introducing Somerset Charcuterie
There have been a few changes!
If you’ve been into our shop in Bruton recently, you might have noticed things looking a little different. We’ve been doing some building work over the summer for new-look offices, and the front off the shop has changed too. More on that in a few weeks!
Inside, the shop is starting to gear up for Christmas and to complement our range of delicious cheese and gift sets, we’ll be bringing in some exciting new lines from local producers.
Godminster & Somerset Charcuterie
The first of our guest producers is Somerset Charcuterie, based in Wrington, North Somerset. Their work combines traditional production methods from Spain and Italy with the fabulous flavours of the West Country.
The business started with two friends who had cured meats as a hobby and spotted a gap for quality British charcuterie. The rest, as they say, is history, and four years on the hobby has turned into a business that uses up to a tonne of pork in a week!
The charcuterie is all made by hand. Owners James and Andy are keen to keep it that way and preserve the artisanal appeal. That doesn’t mean they’re averse to trying new things though, and there are always new and exciting flavours to try.
At Godminster, we are fully embracing the fantastic food culture in Somerset. We’re proud to be able to support grassroots production locally. Somerset Charcuterie uses ingredients – wild garlic, sage, cider etc – from local producers. Additionally, all their pigs that are all reared outdoors in the beautiful south-west countryside. Come in to the shop and try some cured meat and sausage – we’re sure you’ll love the bold flavours.
And don’t forget to keep an eye out for more exciting products in the run-up to Christmas. These guest producers’ lines will only be available in our Bruton shop so pop in next time you’re passing.
