It’s a very exciting time here at Godminster Farm as we are about to expand! We have acquired 300 acres of new organic land which lies next to the farm. The land has been left fallow over the past few years and for non-organic farmers it would be a fairly straight forward process to get it all up to speed pretty quickly.
However, as we don’t believe in using any nasty herbicides on our land – it means we will be nurturing the land back to good health with good old fashioned man-power and of course the help of mother nature! All in all it will take us around two years to get rid of all the weeds and bring the land back up to scratch but it will certainly be worth it.
It’s not all work and no play here at Godminster though. The Blackmore Vale Magazine is running its Taste of Somerset Awards and we have decided to sponsor the Best Local Pub category.
We believe that a good pub can form the backbone of any rural community, and the thought of a pint or two of real ale at a warm and welcoming bar at the end of the week can certainly keep you going when you’re weeding the fields! If you would like to nominate an excellent Somerset pub follow this link – as sponsors we have the enviable task of visiting all the very best pubs to pick a winner - what a chore!
Whilst on the subject of voting … please feel free to vote for us in the Best Organic Business and Best Dairy Producer categories…. or even in the Innovation category for our Quince Vodka, or Cheese and Cake Combo!! We would be very grateful!
