Christmas in May
It’s been ‘all-go’ at Godminster over the past week or so, with the arrival of our new Sales Manager Marie, our Christmas party (yes we have it in May!) and of course, lots going on, on the farm as well.
Welcome!
I think you could say that Marie had a bit of a baptism of fire – in the most positive sense of course! Very shortly after she joined we went to our Christmas party. As Christmas is such a busy time for us, packing up everyone’s gifts and making sure they arrive in time, and attending all our Christmas shows, we decided to have our works party at a time when we could all relax a little more, so to celebrate this year we went to Wincanton Races for Ladies Day. Everyone got into the spirit of the event, although we stopped short of wearing huge hats, even though it was Lady’s Day! Richard gave us all some money to have a flutter and it really gave Marie a chance to see what everyone is like after hours – so we hope she wasn’t too alarmed in her first week!
Life at Godminster
Back at Godminster we have been putting our heads together trying to come up with names for our new soft cheeses. We wanted to open up the debate so we asked for your suggestions across Facebook and twitter. We got some fantastic responses, including one suggestion of ‘Holy Smoked’ for our smoked soft cheese which everyone loved and I think we will use – watch this space to find out!
On the farm, Richard and the team are hoping for more rain as the ponds are looking low. Richard has still been getting some great produce for the garden though, including sugar snap peas, mint, and spinach – which Richard used to make some beautiful spinach and cheese muffins. The Elderflower is almost ready as well, so before you know it we will be making our Elderflower Vodka – all ready for Christmas – the ‘real’ Christmas in December that is!
