A busy start to the year….

Christmas was lovely here in Somerset, but now it’s time to look forward to a very busy start to the year ahead. We are all putting together our plans for 2012 which include tastings from Somerset to Stirling, major food shows in London to country fairs in beautiful villages and of course Richard will be busy in his development kitchen.  For the last few months we’ve been working on trying to create something using organic beetroot, but at the moment I can’t say any more than that!

In a bid to blow away the cobwebs we’ve been getting out and about on the farm where it’s really starting to burst into life - quite literally, as our heifers will start calving very shortly.  In the hedgerows wild birds are busy picking at berries and magpies and starlings are in abundance.  The ponds are full to the brim thanks to all this wet weather we’ve been having, and this has meant that the mallards have been out on the ponds courting each other, as they say …. it’s nice weather for ducks!
