Autumn’s plentiful bounty

Autumn’s plentiful bounty

We have just harvested the Bramley Apples from the orchard for our Beetroot and Apple Chutney. The weather has produced some really beautiful fruit and overall it has been a fantastic crop of English apples.

Here is a little recipe to use up any spare apples that you may have…

Godminster Vintage and Bramley Apple Rarebit

What you’ll need from the larder…

Rarebit topping

175g of Bramley Apples, peeled, cored and grated

75g Godmintser Organic Cheddar

1 tbsp flour

1 tbsp wholegrain mustard

25g butter, softened

Godminster Beetroot and Apple Chutney to serve

Mix together all the rarebit topping ingredients

For the base, use four slices of bread – grilled until golden on one side. Remove from the grill and spread with the rarebit mixture. Grill for a further 2-5 minutes until golden and bubbling.

Serve immediately with Godminster Beetroot and Apple Chutney.

Delicious!

With the abundant supply of apples in this Country during autumn it does beg the question – why aren’t our supermarkets full of them?
