Rain, rain, go away…

/

Although the British are renowned for remarking about the weather, at the moment it seems justified. On the farm the rain is causing us a real headache. We can’t send the machines out onto the fields to ‘top’ all the weeds. We do this so that they don’t seed and grow even more. Also […]

Here we go a Wassailing

/

This Saturday I am going Wassailing, for any of you that don’t know Wassailing is an ancient custom that takes place on Old Twelfth Night (17 January) or thereabouts, when in the West Country people drink and sing to the health of trees to ensure lots of lovely apples grow in the summer – meaning lots of cider! We’ll be doing it on Saturday which is the 20th, but hopefully it should still work!

Even in our more serious moments Godminster Farm is far from a corporate machine – our idea of ‘blue sky thinking’ is having a lie down in the orchard, with a glass of cider and looking up!
